In an article published today in the New York Times, entitled: “Justice Dept. to Recharge Enforcement of Civil Rights.” we are learning that the government will once again intrude into the daily operations of American businesses. You can read the entire article here.

PanAM’s PEO clients are already up to speed on these regulations, but other small businesses will need to immediately review their compliance practices in view of this new information.

Of particular note is this quote:

As part of this shift, the Obama administration is planning a major revival of high-impact civil rights enforcement against policies, in areas ranging from housing to hiring, where statistics show that minorities fare disproportionately poorly.

Note, please, the emphasis on “hiring.” You can believe that there will be compliance and other record keeping regulations on the way, so be prepared.
